On 16th February 2024, the Ocean Science Students' Club (OCESSC) hosted a delightful seafood dinner in Sai Kung to kick off the new year and new semester. Head of Department, Prof. Jianping GAN, UG Coordinator Prof Stanley LAU, Prof. Sai Kit YEUNG, Prof. Julian MAK, Prof. Alex WYATT, Prof. Qiong ZHANG, Prof. Cindy LAM, Dr Cynthia YAU and Dr Veronica LEUNG have joined the dinner. On 1 Dec 2023, a group of students and teachers have boarded the HADALX Research Vessel in Tsim Sha Tsui. The Shen Kuo Research Vessel was designed by China Ship Scientific Research Center, and built and operated by Tehe Ocean Technology Group. Since 2018, the vessel has completed more than 30 oceanic research missions, visiting the world's deepest trench, the Mariana Trench, on several occasions to conduct deep-sea exploration missions. To give our PG students an oppotunity to meet and interact with each other in a relaxing atmosphere, a local tour to Shek O was organized on 25 November 2023 (Saturday). After having a get-together lunch in a Thai restaurant, PG students enjoyed themselves with a series of games and activities on the Shek O Beach. They arranged a Spikeball match, which requires cooperation between students, and everyone enthusiastically participated in. They also flew a kite and watched the stunning sunset view on the beach.
