The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), a world-class research institution, invites applications for tenure-track positions at all ranks within the Department of Ocean Science. Established in 2018, the Department of Ocean Science emphasizes multidisciplinary research.
We welcome outstanding candidates in all disciplines of ocean science and technology, and particularly encourage applications at the Associate Professor to Full Professor levels with research expertise in: ocean biogeochemical modeling; ocean-atmosphere interactions; climate variability and change; ocean remote sensing and technology; AI and data-driven oceanography; biological oceanography with a focus on higher trophic organisms; blue economy inclusive of fishery sciences.
Applicants must hold a PhD degree in ocean science or a closely related discipline. For Assistant Professor positions, at least 2 years of post-doctoral experience is preferred. Successful candidates should demonstrate strong research records, the potential to establish strong research programs, and a commitment to excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The medium of instruction is English at HKUST.
Initial appointment for Assistant Professors is typically on a three-year contract, renewable subject to mutual agreement. A gratuity is payable upon successful completion of the contract. HKUST offers an internationally competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
