On November 11, 2024, a group of enthusiastic OST students got on an educational visit to Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) in Zhuhai. This trip provided students with a unique opportunity to broaden their academic horizons and engage with cutting-edge research in marine science and geology.
The day began with a visit to an advanced research vessel – Zhong Shan Da Xue, where students had the chance to explore the various technologies and equipment used for marine research. Guided by experienced researchers, they learned about the vessel's capabilities and its role in conducting important studies on oceanography and marine ecosystems. The hands-on experience allowed students to appreciate the practical applications of their studies and the significance of marine research in addressing environmental challenges.
Following the vessel tour, students visited the Geological and Mineral Museum, which showcased a fascinating collection of geological specimens and exhibits. One of the highlights was the opportunity to get in touch with dinosaur fossils, sparking excitement and curiosity among the students.
