HKUST Explored Marine Sciences at French Science Festival

2024-10-07

How much do you really know about the oceans that cover over 70% of our planet? In partnership with the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong & Macau, we are elated to have hosted the French Science Festival at HKUST over two dynamic days on October 6-7, 2024. We delved into different aspects of marine ecosystems and conservation through a wide range of activities, including public talks about ocean science and marine conversation, hands-on plankton and “Fish Printing” workshops, Marine VR experience and guided tours of HKUST’s top-notch Ocean Research Facility.

An exclusive dialogue was hosted between OCES faculty and distinguished VIPs and teams from the Consulate office, fostering a dynamic exchange on HKUST’s latest research findings and opportunities to further advance discoveries and education in marine and ocean sciences. The event concluded with a closing ceremony organized by the Department of Ocean Science.

Our heartfelt thanks go to all our faculty speakers and guests whose participation made this festival a resounding success. We are also immensely grateful to the Consulat Général de France à Hong Kong et Macao for their invaluable support and collaboration, which significantly enhanced our mission to expand knowledge and foster international ties.

We eagerly anticipate more such collaborations in promoting scientific exchange and exciting events in the future!
