OCES 4301 Environmental Conservation: Exploration of Ocean Park's Nursery Facilities

2023-03-25

On 25th March 2023, OCES 2100 students, led by Dr. Cynthia Yau and Dr. Cindy Lam, visited Ocean Park's nursery facilities. The purpose of the visit was to learn about the artificial breeding programs for endangered local freshwater turtles, like the Beale's eyed turtle. Experts from Ocean Park explained how these programs operate, showing the students the breeding process and the actions taken to protect these rare turtles. The students got a chance to see the nursery process and learn about the actions taken to save endangered turtle species. This visit helped students understand the importance of conservation efforts and the role that artificial breeding programs play in preserving biodiversity.
