To enhance the learning experience, two OST students were sponsored by the Department of Ocean Science to participate in a 1-month summer exchange program named The Vancouver Summer Program (VSP) in The University of British Columbia, Canada. Offered by the Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries, students attended project-based courses related to the environmental challenges now we are facing, from overexploitation and marine pollution to climate change and ocean acidification. They worked with students across many countries to do presentations and to map out relevant strategies on these related topics and were trained to be future ocean leaders. Likewise, they travelled around Vancouver, enjoyed food in the local community and dived into the nature of Canada.
