The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is pleased to announce the launch of WavyOcean 2.0, an advanced digital twin platform of regional earth system for marine research and sustainability. This upgraded platform integrates digital technologies with innovative research, providing the first "dynamic digital mirror" for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA) and China's coastal regions.
Key Features of WavyOcean 2.0:
• Comprehensive Data Insights: Offers real-time data on ocean currents, marine ecology, atmospheric conditions, and pollutant distribution in terrestrial watersheds.
• Support for Marine Research and Policy: Led by Prof. Gan Jianping, the platform aids researchers and policymakers in balancing marine conservation with socio-economic development.
• Innovative Visualization: Integrates Earth simulators, GIS, BIM, and digital twin technologies, enhancing data exploration and understanding of the GBA's Earth systems.
Notable Breakthroughs:
1. Global Connectivity: Achieving the first three-dimensional coupling modeling of "ocean-land-atmosphere.": First three-dimensional coupling modeling of the ocean-land-atmosphere system.
2. Seamless Virtual Navigation: Introducing a three-dimensional immersive interactive experience: Provides an immersive interactive experience for analyzing marine and atmospheric dynamics.
3. Derivable Analytical Variables for: Unlocking the scientific codes behind the data Unlocks scientific insights from complex data patterns.
WavyOcean 2.0 is supported by the Earth-HK Areas of Excellence Scheme Project and the Center for Ocean Research in Hong Kong and Macau (CORE). For access or to arrange visits to HKUST, please contact Prof. Gan Jianping at earthhk@ust.hk.
