Prof. Jianping GAN, Chair Professor of Department of Ocean Science was awarded a HK$ 87.147 million by the Research Grants Council (RGC)’s Areas of Excellence (AoE) Scheme 2023/24 with the project title “Study of the Regional Earth System for Sustainable Development under Climate Change in the Greater Bay Area”.
Congratulating Prof. Gan and other HKUST the research teams, HKUST President Prof. Nancy IP said, “As a university dedicated to translating research into innovative and impactful solutions to address local and global challenges facing society, our accomplishments in the AoE and TRS schemes are testimonies of our commitment to research excellence. It is particularly exciting to see that two of the HKUST-led awarded projects will be jointly undertaken by faculty members from both HKUST and HKUST(GZ) campuses, demonstrating enhanced synergy that arises from complementary basic and applied research. We will continue leveraging our research capabilities to fuel innovation in the city, across the region, and around the world.”
