OCES Seminar: JFE Advantech: Technologies for anti-biofouling and in-situ plankton detection
03 Dec 2024 (Tue)
3:00pm - 4:00pm
Room 5583 (Lift 29-30)
Dr. Hua Li
Abstract:
Dr. Li will provide some insights into cutting-edge technologies for oceanographic instrumentation applications developed by JFE Advantech, focusing on:
1. New Anti-Biofouling Technology: A breakthrough hybrid system combining wiper mechanisms and UV irradiation to combat biofouling, enabling long-term oceanographic observations in biofouling-intensive environments.
2. Technologies for In-Situ Plankton Detection: A novel fluorescence-based method for detecting harmful algal blooms (HABs) using the Fluorescence Spectral Shift Index (FSI). The development of the Harmful Algae Indicator (HAI) sensor and its application in early HAB detection will be discussed, highlighting its accuracy and potential for mitigating aquaculture and public health impacts.
