Ocean Science Seminar - Microbial Mysteries: the unseen impacts of ocean microbes on our climate
Microorganisms are incredibly small, but their abundance is immense. Together, their total weight surpasses that of all the plants and animals on Earth combined. Like humans, bacteria breathe. In doing so, they release gases such as methane, which can influence the climate. This seminar will introduce you to the fascinating diversity of the microbial world and their unseen role in regulating Earth's climate, as well as the impacts of human activities on these effects.
