Abstract:
The Red Sea is a narrow basin with warm and highly saline water that supports a rich and diverse marine ecosystem. It is of immense ecological and commercial importance, yet little is known of a crucial oceanographic aspect - the eddies. In this study, remote sensing data, an oceanic general circulation model and the adjoint technique were employed to conduct an integrated investigation on the Red Sea eddies, including their temporal and spatial properties, their energy budget, the mechanisms of their evolution, and their contributions to the biological connectivity.
All Are Welcome!
